Thanks you guys SO MUCH for helping me out with this
site. I own only a small collection of the G1 ponies so there is
no way I could do it without you!
Click here for the list of which ponies I
don't have so you will know what shots I am missing. This list
is being updated as people send me their lists of what ponies they
have so be sure to check it and send me your list! I have almost
100 G1 ponies but some of them are not great for photos (like my
original baby Blossom with nappy cut hair or Glory with most of
her symbol missing) but the ones of mine that are not great are
common ones so hopefully someone will have photo worthy ponies of
those!
I am slightly picky about how the site comes together so bear with
me. I would like all of the photos to be as close as they can in
style to each other but since there will be a number of us contibution
photos I know this will be a bit tricky. I would like the ponies
on a white background with no *lines* in it (like not on white shelf
with a white wall behind it). I have setup my little *studio* using
the white back of a poster that is on a shelf at about eye level.
The first picture is of my studio setup. I have paper weight things
on each side to hold the bottom part flat and to keep the poster
from sliding off the shelf.
I would like the ponies shot pretty much at eye level. This can
mean a shelf at eye level, on a table top with your camera sitting
on a small book to be pony eye level, or how ever you can set it
up. When you take the shot (pic number 2) you can have plenty of
space around the pony, don't crop it all the way down as I will
do that when I am saving the photos for the site. I will need the
pony itself to be at least 450 pix wide within the image though
so make sure you have your camera set to the correct quality.
Be sure if you are using the flash that you stand at least 5 or
6 feet away from the pony so that you don't get a glare/reflection
on it from the flash. If you are not using the flash be sure there
are not any big shadows showing up on the white background. Set
the pony so it is a perfect side shot, not at an angle or having
the front feet closer to you than the back feet. Be sure your ponies
are pretty much clean and their hair is looking nice. For their
tails try to lay them behind the ponies for the photos, instead
of having them lay in front of their legs so the we can see the
pose better. When taking the pictures it helps to take shots of
ponies that are all in the same pose all at the same time, that
way it's easier to make sure they are all angled the same in the
pictures.
*Special note for sea ponies* Please take pictures of them by laying
them flat on a white sheet of paper and standing straight over top
of them and shooting down. Check out the photos of them that are
already on the site for an example. Take pictures of the shells
and floats separately.
I am going to have a large version and small version of each photo
(400 pix and 100px wide). On the larger version I can put your name
along the bottom edge of the picture if you like, just let me know
if you want your screen name or real name used.
To get your photos to me there are two different ways you can do
it. Either you can e-mail them to me at my Gmail account (PM me,
emery, on the Arena or TP for the address) or if you have a photobucket
(or similar) account where you can upload the photos, just link
me to it and I can get the photos from there.
Below are some examples of how I DON'T want the photos to be:

This is my setup for taking the pictures. Be sure to stand back
at least 5 or 6 feet though so that the flash does not glare alot
on the pony's body.

The picture you send me can be like this, I will crop it down.
